In honour of National Adoption Month, I’d like to tell you a bit about my Sophie.
Sophie is adopted. She is the eldest of my two girls. She is a go getter of note, nothing can stop her. She is determined and strong spirited. She was walking at 10months😂🤣 I call her my Sunshine Sophie ☀️ she dominates a room like the sun dominates the sky. Her radiant personality keeps us on our toes. There is never a dull moment when she’s around. She graces our lives with so much joy and fills our home with laughter. She is the life of the party, drawing attention unintentionally and loving it at the same time. She’s funny and cute, adventurous is an understatement and as curious as a cat!
Being the strong willed Miss that she is, she sometimes needs a firmer ‘No Sophie’ when she’s done something wrong. There are some days that call for a 2minute time out session. She needs me to be the Mom that enforces boundaries and rules that need to be adhered to. She tests the boundaries oh so often, just checking that they’re still there as she pushes against them😝 She’s our little blessing, the one we prayed for, the one the Lord granted us with💜 our Samuel 1:27 little girl🎀
What a privilege it is to be her Mom. What a privilege to have her in our lives. Thank goodness for adoption. I wouldn’t have become Sophie’s Mom without that gift. Yes, adoption is a gift. A gift that keeps on giving. We see the model of adoption written clearly in Gods Word as He predestined us for adoption.
“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.”
Romans 8:15-16 NLT
“God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”
Ephesians 1:5 NLT
What a beautiful thing adoption is! We are chosen. Chosen by God. Sophie was chosen. Chosen by God. What a beautiful picture.
Adoption is an option to everyone. It’s been such an incredible journey for us. Our lives are rich and full and blessed.:)
